I’m Adriana. You can call me Alú

I grew up in Colombia, between Cartagena and Barranquilla. I’m the daughter of a chemical engineer and a biology teacher, and I was a quiet, introverted kid who spent most of her time drawing and reading. I was observant early on, drawn to color, to images, to stories, and to the small details that make things feel alive. I didn’t have language for it then, but I was already paying attention.

I trained as a graphic designer and later became a mother while also teaching design at the college level. A Fulbright Scholarship brought me to the United States, where I completed a master’s degree in Design Management and began working across user experience, brand design, and creative leadership. I currently lead Design at Arcadia.

This site is a fresh start, a slow, evolving collection of writing, photography, and art. Here you’ll find essays, visual notes, and fragments shaped by travel, motherhood, creativity, and the everyday practice of paying attention. I’m interested in joy, in color, and in the quiet satisfaction of making things that feel honest.

In 2025, my inward work deepened. I slowed down and learned to pay closer attention. This site is part of that.

My professional work in product and design lives elsewhere. If you’re interested in that side of my practice, feel free to reach out.
