I'm Adriana Phillips-Guzman. You can call me Alú.

I grew up in Colombia, between Cartagena and Barranquilla — daughter of a chemical engineer and a biology teacher, a quiet, introverted kid who spent most of her time drawing and reading. I was observant early on, drawn to color, to images, to stories, and to the small details that make things feel alive. I didn't have language for it then, but I was already paying attention.

I trained as a graphic designer and spent years teaching design at the college level before a Fulbright Scholarship brought me to the United States. I've since built a career leading design teams — most recently as Director of Design at Arcadia, a clean energy company — working across product, brand, and experience design for over seventeen years.

But this space isn't about that.

This is a slow, evolving collection of writing, photography, and art; shaped by travel, motherhood, creativity, and the everyday practice of paying attention. I'm interested in joy, in color, and in the quiet satisfaction of making things that feel honest. I also write a newsletter called Dear Fellow Wanderer — personal letters about motherhood, art, and finding home.

In 2025 I slowed down and learned to look more carefully. This site is part of that.

I've called Kansas, Boston, and now Colorado home. I'm a proud mom of two daughters, currently obsessed with the art of building miniatures. If something here resonates, I'd love to hear from you.
